Let us establish the context. The current narrative posits that autonomous agents will manage portfolios, execute trades, and negotiate with other agents on behalf of humans. The value proposition is efficiency and the removal of human emotional bias. In theory, this is a sound extension of DeFi composability. In practice, the execution layer is a house of cards. The protocols I audited rely on off-chain orchestrators to feed data to on-chain execution units. This is not decentralization; it is a centralized bot network with a blockchain facade.

The same error is repeating itself, but now with a latency multiplier. These AI agents depend on real-time price feeds to make split-second decisions. The agents are either too slow to be useful or too expensive to be profitable. The L2 solutions reduce cost but introduce a new layer of trust assumptions. The takeaway is a vulnerability forecast. The next major exploit will not be a reentrancy attack on a lending protocol. It will be a data poisoning attack on an AI agent. An attacker will not drain the contract; they will manipulate the data feed that the agent relies on, causing it to execute a series of trades that benefit the attacker. The agent will be the vector, and the user's funds will be the payload. The code will execute exactly as written, and the user will lose everything. The blockchain will confirm the transaction, and the proof will be immutable. The block confirms everything. Even your mistakes.

We need to stop being impressed by the word "autonomous" and start auditing the infrastructure. The art is the hash; the value is the proof.
